Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book an appointment?
Go to the booking page and specify if you are a new or returning clients. This will take you to the correct form to complete to book, then to the calendar of availability where you can see what we have and choose the date and time that work best for you!

What payment methods do you take?
E-transfers are preferred but cash, debit, and credit are also accepted. All card transactions are processed through Square.

Will you groom my matted dog?
Yes. There will be a dematting fee, which varies depends on severity, and you will be expected to take steps to prevent matting in the future. The groomer will be happy to provide you with resources and tricks.

Why do you charge a dematting fee?
Partly to offset the cost of equipment sharpening/replacement, as matted shavedowns are done on dirty coats which are very damaging to grooming tools. But also to discourage owners from letting their dog's coat get matted. Matted coats are painful and dangerous as they can hide injuries, detritus, and pests. The shavedown process is also painful for the dog and very stressful, furthering any grooming anxiety dogs may already have.

Will you groom my aggressive dog?
Possibly, on a trial basis. Aggressive dogs are required to arrive with a muzzle that fits them properly. Please discuss with the groomer the details of the aggression; some "problem" dogs are not as bad as their owners think!

Can I stay during my dog's groom?
Owners are required to leave during their dog's appointment, as their presence typically increase the dog's anxiety.

How long are appointments?
Nail trims can be done in a couple minutes up to 15ish minutes, depending on behaviour. Grooming appointments can take as little as one hour but as long as 3-4 hours depending on the coat type and grooming needs. The groomer can usually give you a better idea of the time it will take once they've evaluated the dog and coat on the day of your appointment. Please note however that we are dealing with live animals who are being asked to stay still for an abnormal (to them) amount of time, and that this groomer does not rush dogs for the sake of a rushed owner. Grooming takes the time it takes.

Where can I park?
You may park in the home's driveway if it is available, otherwise there is ample visitor parking just past the house. Please do not park on the street as it is a fire route and the only (very narrow) way to get in and out of the neighbourhood.
